We live up here on a Mountain, so getting current weather is sometimes vital for our travel plans.  I'm sure for you folks out there that like to ski, it is also vital to you as well.  : )

Another wonderful Weather site is:  The Weather Underground

July 17th, 2009 -Today the high is due to reach 84 degrees in Crestline and tonights low of 68, with a chance of T- Boomers.  This means that we shall longingly watch from afar, as Big Bear gets the T storm.

Right now we need to be on the look out for dry, windy weather.  Fires have been such a danger here in Southern CA for the past several years.  Running Springs lost
200 plus homes in the Slide fire in Oct 2007.  Here is a picture of another destructive fire, the Butler fire.

Iceland - Whats New With That Volcano

Anyone else wondering what is new with that volcano in Iceland.  The one that I, along with most others cannot pronounce.  "Eyjafjallajökull" Yeah, I can't even hope to spell that either.  Yikes!  With a name like that, no wonder it went off.  This wild one went off in April of 2010.  It's highest ash plume was 33,000feet high on it's first day on April 18th, ...

Enchanting Song of the Morning Wind

This morning I was called awake by the enchanting song of the wind delicately lifting and swaying our grand oak tree limbs outside our bedroom sliding door.  The window was slightly lifted and the breeze of fresh air swirled inside the early hint of day lit room.  I had barely crept out of dream, as I lay softly nestled under the warm white protection of my comforter.  Usu...

Earthquake - Borrego Springs, California

Well this is the first earthquake since the Easter Mexicali quake, that I have not felt.  When not sitting upon, or close to an epicenter it can really make a difference how or if you feel a quake, by where or what you are doing.  This time I was downstairs, walking between rooms and starting the washing machine.  I came walking back into our bedroom to the News Station pausing and ...

It's May, Right?

Please note: Best to view this post from Mozilla Firefox browser.Woke up this morning to hail, no wait, snow!  It's May 23rd and it's snowing outside?  At 7 AM we were having our morning brew and the snow turned more violent with lightning and thunder!  Yeah, Ben didn't believe me when I told him I thought I saw lightning either?  However, the thunder clap that followed hi...

A Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On! REDLANDS SMALL EARTHQUAKE

I was down the Mountain yesterday, and what a visit I had! You know the One 800 Dentist Girl? Well, some of you don't get that ad. She is the one that doesn't go to the dentist unless the pain is over the top, then she MAY go. I'm indeed, that girl. I was at the Dentist yesterday. Not my favorite place in the world. I made it out, I escaped with my life and my teeth. I climbed back into my car and...

Polar Bear Numbers

There is much confusion about the current number of Polar Bears and if they should be considered an endangered species at all?  There could be a reason that some believe the numbers of polar bear have gone up.  It could be that the rate of ice melt has driven the polar bear to wander more often into human habitat than ever before in history.  The polar bear has been a hard...

Is the Lack of Ice the Polar Bear's Only Threat to Survival?

We have all heard about the fact, ice is now melting at an alarming rate, and putting the magnificent polar bear's survival at stake.  How we all deal with our environment in the future may determine this beautiful and powerful creatures outcome.  The ice flows are where the polar bear goes to hunt for food.  It will drag a seal up on the ice to feed.  Polar bears canno...

Hail, With Thunder and Lightning Show!

Wow, this is a storm we are having up here today! We had such heavy and large sized hail that when I called Ben, he could not hear me. He thought that he was hearing static. No, it was the hail that was hitting the windows that were so loud that we both were unable to hear each other over the phone. As soon as it let up, he said, "Oh, that's better." The balcony is about an inch deep in ...

I Love a Snowy Day, But!

Ya know, snow is so beautiful. It brings about a softness to this world. It also ushers in a pleasant quietness. We always know when the rain has turned into a snow. The harsher sound of the rain drops has hushed and there is a quiet calm that falls about the house. It is also a bit on the cold side. It's when we find ourselves adjusting the temperature gauge. We hurriedly go look outsid...
